About the Book

Evolution: the divine process of creation

Creationism and Darwinism have long been seen as incompatible. But these two powerful

ideas are reconciled in Dr Imad Hassan’s Shajara Code Decoded.

The literal notion that God created man out of dust strains belief in today’s scientific

climate. Darwin’s theory of evolution makes sense, but leaves no room for a Creator.

Beginning with the idea that all life on Earth evolved from a common ancestor, and in particular

that humans descended from apes, Hassan re-examines the meaning of those passages in the

Qur’an and the Bible that address the Creation. Through his book, Dr. Hassan shows that

creationism, properly understood, describes the Darwinian evolution of life on Earth.

The book provides extensive linguistic interpretations of scripture to make its case. In Arabic,

‘Adam’ comes from a root word meaning ‘modifiable’. Thus, a divine power selected 16 males

and 16 females to be modified from apes into intelligent modern humans. This conversion required the enlargement of the

skull to house a larger brain, a process Hassan sees revealed in the phrase, ‘breathing the spirit of life into Adam’.

‘Shajara’, meaning ‘tree’ in Arabic, comes from a root word meaning ‘interaction’. When these modified ‘Adam’ first humans

were prohibited from eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, Hassan explains they were being told not to interact, in

other words, not to have sex – the original sin. He shows that this conversion into intelligent, civilised humans is imitated

every year by Muslims making the pilgrimage to Mecca and represents the missing link in Darwin’s theory.

Unravel several other mysteries in the scriptures that support Darwinism without abandoning creationism in this book. The

story of Noah’s ark is presented as a selective breeding programme initiated by the divine power. Camels, cows, goats

and sheep are shown to have extraterrestrial origins, existing independent of evolution. These animals were brought to

Earth by the divine power to domesticate the newly formed humans.

Shajara Code Decoded takes aim at both the scientists and the devout who cling to dogmatic views. The compatibility

of creationism and Darwinism can only be appreciated from the evidence – often stranger than fiction – presented in this

book.
